Vertical integration & reusability of rockets

I have read books about people who were at the frontier.

Who couldn't sleep knowing that there are unknowns somewhere there, for them to discover.

I know that I was born at the right moment of history. As we venture into the space age, humanity will colonize not just the Solar System, but many stars close to our home, Earth. Thus, for my bachelor's thesis, I wanted to explore the machinery, the hardware that will make this endeavor possible. Through the lens of both a hardware engineer and an economist.

That's why, between October 2025 and June 2026, I wrote a final year thesis on a topic of "How Vertical Integration and Reusability Drive Rocket Price Competitiveness". Go read it! It's a fascinating story of how institutional advancements of early SpaceX allowed for the creation of two main drivers of low kg/LEO - vertical integration and reusability.

If I were to summarize my thesis into just one insight, I would say: Follow what Elon has been doing at SpaceX and Tesla. Own the full pipeline - from raw metals to application layer (Starlink). Then, you will win. Happy reading!
